Youth concerned with social issues

SOCIAL issues outrank personal concerns for young Australians this election, a survey has found.

Asylum seekers, marriage equality and climate change were more important than education, health, unemployment, housing affordability and tax reform, The Agenda for Action: What young Australians want from the 2016 Election study found.

The survey also found that more than half of the 3369 respondents had not yet decided who to vote for on July 2.

Survey participants were asked to reveal topics they most wanted addressed during the election campaign.

The top responses were support for asylum seekers; marriage equality; addressing climate change; and policies supporting education and unemployment.

There are 1.66 million Aussie youth (under 25) voters.
