Young woman dead after car smashes into power pole

A YOUNG woman is dead after her car left the road and crashed into a power pole.

Police believe that shortly before 3am, a vehicle was travelling on Redland Bay Road in Brisbane when it veered from the road.

The only person in the vehicle was a 21-year-old woman, who died at the scene.

The outbound lanes of Redland Bay Road were closed near the intersection with Ney Road, with diversions in place.

The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating
