Young artists on show

THE artistic talents of the local youth were on display at the 2nd Annual Youth Art Exhibition held at the Gatton Shire Hall.

Entries were received from artists in Fernvale through to St George for this event which is anticipated to gather momentum in the coming years.

There were three major prizes awarded in each of the Primary School, Secondary School and School Leaver categories as well as numerous Highly Commended awards.

Organiser of the event, Regina Samykanu-Vuthapanich was extremely pleased with the outcome.

“I hope this event will continue to grow and encourage other youth to participate in all artistic endeavours,” Regina said.

Local artist Helen Terauds officially opened the exhibition and commended Regina on her efforts in trying to establish this annual event.

Gatton resident Nicholas Panzram was awarded the Thomas Samykanu scholarship for his selfless local volunteer work.

Regina and her husband Dr Surachat will be sponsoring Nicholas on his trip to Germany next year as a Rotary exchange student.
