FORMER Spice Girl and X Factor judge Melanie Brown has applied for an apprehended violence order to be taken out against a paparazzi photographer linked to a publicity agency she reportedly pays to keep her in the spotlight.

The feisty British ex-pat, who lives in Sydney with her husband Stephen Belafonte and three children, will take well-known celebrity snapper James Fawcett to court on Thursday.

In the meantime, police have banned Fawcett from going with 200metres of the star.

According to the Herald, "Mel B", who has a private agreement with US agency Splash and is known for "tipping off" photographers, claims Fawcett allegedly threatened her and her husband and "intentionally created big waves" around them during a kayaking trip on Sydney Harbour last week.
