Would you swim this close to a 5m crocodile?

A SPECTACULAR photo of North Coast woman Franny Plumridge swimming just centimetres from a huge crocodile has gone viral on social media.

The Byron Bay "traveller, story-teller and videographer" has almost 7000 likes of this photo on her Instagram page, along with 600 comments.

Just a plastic tube separated Ms Plumridge from the 5m crocodile, which was at the Crocosaurus Cove in Darwin as part of the "Cage of Death" exhibit.

On her Instagram page, she described it as a "crazy and unique experience" to be able to swim and shoot with the "meaty 17-foot fella".

Ms Plumridge told the Daily Mail Australia that she felt "completely safe".

"A lot of people think that I should have been scared but it was more of a thrill and fascinating," she told the Mail.

"I have never been in close quarters with such a massive creature because they're usually at the bottom of a murky muddy pool of water."

The Crocosaurus Cove website explains that the Cage of Death is the "only cage in the world that brings you face to face with some of the largest saltwater crocodiles in captivity".

"Go it alone or grab a friend - this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to share the same environment of one of the world's deadliest predators," the website states.
