REVEALED: Furniture giant IKEA's Mackay collection point
IKEA has revealed where online shoppers can pick up goods in Mackay come April 19.
The company has revealed to the Daily Mercury its collection point will be at 35 Southgate Dr Paget.
The collection point at Rockhampton will be at 11 Waurn St.
IKEA is just nine days away from opening in Mackay - virtually, at least.
The world's largest furniture retailer has announced it will open warehouses across north and central Queensland, where online shoppers can collect purchases.
Warehouses will be at Mackay, Rockhampton, Townsville, Cairns and Gladstone.
IKEA has been contacted regarding the location of the Mackay collection point.
The company announced in January it would open the collection points, to the delight of many in the Mackay region.
Mackay shoppers have had to use private courier services to buy items from IKEA in the past.
IKEA Australia multichannel manager Michael Donath has said he was "very excited" to see the arrival of IKEA in the cities.
"In just under two weeks people in Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns as well as Gladstone will be able to purchase IKEA products with the click of a button and collect them from their nearest location," he said.
"We have seen extraordinary demand for IKEA in North Queensland and we anticipate great interest in this service."
The new service from IKEA will use secure online payments and allow customers to track their order and enter a preferred date they'd like to collect purchases.
IKEA's headquarters are in the Netherlands and it sells ready-to-assemble furniture, kitchen appliances and home accessories.
It has been the world's largest furniture retailer since at least 2008.
IKEA is also rather well-known for its in store food markets, which serve traditional Swedish food including potatoes with Swedish meatballs, cream sauce and lingonberry jam.
Obviously, Mackay residents will have to forego that experience, at least for the time being.
How to shop:
