Woman charged with dangerous driving following crash



POLICE have charged a woman following a serious traffic crash that occurred at The Leap overnight.

A motorcycle and a car collided around 10pm on the Bruce Highway.

The female rider was taken to the Mackay Base Hospital with serious injuries.

The highway was closed for a number of hours, but has since re-opened.

A 63-year-old Mount Ossa woman has been charged with one count each of dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and driving under the influence of liquor.

She is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on July 10.



A WOMAN was taken to hospital with serious injuries following a two vehicle traffic crash at The Leap near Mackay last night.

Initial police investigations indicate a collision between a motorcycle and a car occurred on the Bruce Highway around 10pm.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 49-year-old woman from Kuttabul, was taken to the Mackay Base Hospital with serious leg injuries.

The driver of the car, a 63-year-old Mount Ossa woman was not injured in the crash.

The Bruce Highway was closed until 3.30am.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Police have confirmed that the woman driving the car remains in custody and will appear in the Mackay court today.
