Which bands and artists are celebrating 20th anniversaries?

BACK in 1997, OK Computer was not just something yelled in frustration at a device. It was the name of an album that was released on, wait for it, a round shiny thing called a compact disc.

Blur, Bjork and Radiohead (of OK Computer fame) are just a few of the bands and artists set to mark the 20th anniversary this year of some of their most-loved albums and singles.

British band Blur's self-titled album of 1997 burst onto the charts almost flipping the bird at the Oasis album of two years earlier, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

The Blur release, which featured the smash hit Song 2 that had teenagers across the country "woohooing", reached number 42 of the ARIA top 100 singles of 1997.

Topping the ARIA singles chart for that year was the Elton John tribute to the late Princess Diana, Candle in the Wind '97. On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana, her lover Dodi Fayed and their driver died in a car crash in Paris.

John and the princess were close friends and in his grief, John rewrote his classic hit that was originally a tribute for Marilyn Monroe.

The artist has performed the song only once, at Princess Di's funeral, and it has been reported he will only perform it live again at the request of her sons, princes William and Harry.

Icelandic songstress Bjork also hit the radiowaves with her mind-bending album Homogenic.

But at the top of the 1997 ARIA chart, and celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, is Savage Garden's self-titled album, which spent 19 weeks at number one.
