West Coast soar over Freemantle

A STUNNING goal to West Coast defender Will Schofield provided the highlight for his side in its 11.18 (84) to 5.6 (36) rout of Fremantle yesterday at a packed Patersons Stadium.

Schofield received the ball way back in the defensive line but covered most of the ground with a scorching run.

He then unloaded with a magnificent kick to score from outside the 50m arc on the boundary line.

Eagles midfielder Matt Rosa was outstanding with a career-high 43 disposals along with 13 marks and one goal, awarded the Ross Glendinning medal as best on ground for his efforts.

The scores were level at half-time before the Eagles blew Freo away with a nine goal to two second half, consigning the Dockers to their lowest score at the ground.

West Coast big man added to his highlight reel, taking two spectacular marks, including one over 200cm Docker Zac Clarke.

The match also saw West Coach John Worsfold break Mick Malthouse's 243-game record for most games at the helm of the Eagles.

"It's been wonderful to have been part of the club through some good times and some challenging times," he told Fox Footy.

"We are gaining respect again. We're putting in things to try and maintain our place as one of the most respected teams in the competition."
