Peter Wellington ‘on same page’ as ALP leader

PETER Wellington will work closely with Annastacia Palaszczuk to improve integrity and accountability in government following her swearing in as Premier by the Queensland Governor.

The declaration of seat winners by Electoral Commission Queensland yesterday gave Labor government.

Independent MP Mr Wellington will support the ALP on confidence motions in the Parliament enabling it to form government.

He said he had established a good working relationship with Ms Palaszczuk over a number of years through work in parliamentary committees and debate on various legislation.

"I respect her and expect to have the same relationship with her ministers," Mr Wellington said.

"On the issue of integrity and accountability we are on the same page.

"The secret donation laws will be wound back and there will be further talks about how the investigation (into links between political donations and government decisions) will be conducted.

"Ms Palaszczuk understands the intent behind our heads of agreement."
