"Monk" Phare to suffer the Ice Challenge in aid of charity
ALWAYS up for it, Dave "Monk" Phare was challenged on social media to take part in the Ice Challenge.
The challenge is simple, pour icy water all over your body or donate to charity. For Mr Phare, that means do both - and do it naked.
"It's gone viral on the internet, and I was challenged," he said.
"The shock of having a bucket of ice water tipped over you is supposed to imitate the shock of a chemotherapy injection."
Along with a motley crew of five other burly, heavily tattooed men, Mr Phare will partake in the fundraiser north of Mackay at 1pm tomorrow.
"We're putting in $100 each," he said.
"It's for a very good cause. We have some clients here at the studio who are going through (chemotherapy), so we are happy to donate."
Mr Phare is creative when it comes to philanthropy.
In March, he found an interesting way to fundraise for autistic Hugh Cousins, who needed an assistance dog.
He had people donating through a locating MH370 competition.
He also fundraised for victims of the Greenfields blaze over Christmas.
Donate at Mad Monk tattoo on Macalister St before 4.30pm today.
Yesterday in New Zealand a man died after taking the challenge.
