Was this man shot dead over a road rage incident?
POLICE are investigating whether car chase unfolded just seconds before a Central Coast father of two was shot dead in broad daylight today.
Two workmen told The Daily Telegraph a silver Toyota Kluger with two frantic looking passengers roared passed them in Ithome St, Wyong before a white Mitsubishi Triton sped along behind them.
Paramedics, who were on the scene treating an elderly woman on a separate call-out, immediately turned their attention to the young man but he died at the scene.
Local man Lloyd Kelly said he saw the dramatic scene unfold as a silver car came to a stop, pulling Jesse Thompson's body onto the footpath.
"They were trying to exit the car as it was still going," he said.
He said there were four or five people in the car.
He said Paramedics who just happened to be in the area immediately started working on him.
"As soon as it came to a halt, they drag a body out.
"They were all out of their mind.
Friends have been paying tribute to the victim: Jesse Thompson, a father of two, who was well known in the area.
Brittney Tate told The Daily Telegraph Mr Thompson's grandmother had informed her family he was the victim.
"He was amazing, he was such a great father, son, brother, cousin, uncle," Ms Tate said.
"He was so loved by many. He was always smiling. He has two beautiful children now that doesn't get to watch them grow.
"He was very well known in Wyong, so it's a shock for so many that this has happened. He was one of a kind, he was like the life of the party."
The 28-year-old driver suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and was treated at the scene.
A second crime scene was set up 500m away at the intersection of Byron St and Panonia Rd.
"Both parties were in separate vehicles and the shooting took place in one vehicle and (the victim) was in another vehicle," Acting Superintendent for Tuggerah Lakes David Waddell said.
"There was certainly an altercation between those vehicles but whether there was something that led to that, or whether they had any prior relationship we don't know at this stage."
Police are now trying to find two people in the vehicle which fled from the scene after shooting the passenger of the car.
Police said there was only one bullet used in the attack.
