Warwick woman ‘raped in her home’

A MAN is in police custody, charged with the rape of a 51-year-old Warwick woman in her home at the weekend.

It is alleged the 28-year-old man was invited into the woman's home before raping her some time between 3am and 8am Saturday.

The woman reported the alleged attack to police at 10am that morning.

CCTV was used by police to track down the person they believe to be responsible.

Detective Senior Constable Russell Joyce said there were no signs of forced entry to the home.

"It is believed the 28-year-old was let into the house by the (alleged) victim," he said.

Just before midday on Sunday, a team of six police - made up of uniformed police and detectives - arrested the 28-year-old Warwick man at his home.

He was charged with one count of rape and appeared in Warwick Magistrates Court yesterday.

Magistrate Bevan Manthey ordered he be kept in custody until his next court appearance, which is scheduled in the same court for June 23.
