Warren Mundine leaves position at GenerationOne

RESPECTED indigenous leader Warren Mundine has stepped down as CEO and chairman of GenerationOne.

The former Labor Party national president said it was right time for him to seek a new challenge.

"I have dedicated by time at GenerationOne to drive a strong policy agenda that ensures both sides of politics are focused on ending indigenous disparity through jobs," said Mr Mundine, who was born in Grafton.

"Having achieved this, I believe now is the time to move on to a broader agenda to drive change."

GenerationOne is the brainchild of mining magnate Andrew Forrest.

It believes education, training, mentoring and employment are the best ways to close the gap between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians in one generation.
