Volunteers wanted

VOLUNTEERS are the backbone of communities right across Queensland.

The Gatton Springdale Rural Fire Brigade plays an important role within the Lockyer Valley supporting and protecting the local community whilst helping to save lives and property.

The assistance of the brigade was highlighted recently during the January floods where a number of members volunteered their time to help clean up Grantham and surrounding areas.

They were delighted to congratulate Greg Krenske of Gatton Springdale Rural Fire Brigade on receiving an Australia Day Achievement Medallion for his outstanding commitment to the brigade through his positive leadership and management.

Gatton Springdale Rural Fire Brigade are a small group of volunteers that want new members to help with firefighting and training and personal protective clothing are supplied.

This Sunday a great opportunity to learn more about the group and fire awareness will be at the station's Open Day from 1.30pm with light refreshments and a free sausage sizzle will also be available.

The May 22 Open Day will be held at 639 Gatton-Esk Road, Adare where monthly meetings are also held, as well as on the second Monday of the month at 7.30pm.
