Violent attack accused to plead guilty

TWO men accused of breaking into a man's Mudjimba home and assaulting him have indicated they will plead guilty to their assault charges.

Lawyers for Geoffrey John Jeffcoat, 44 and Troy Michael Adsett, 35, told Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday the men planned to enter pleas of guilty to charges arising from the attack during the early hours of June 4 last year.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Melissa Campbell said the men's matters had originally been set to proceed to Maroochydore District Court but after reviewing the details it was agreed the charges could remain in Maroochydore Magistrates Court for sentence.

Jeffcoat and Adsett have each been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm in company as well as one count of entering a dwelling with intent, stealing, wilful damage and using a carriage service to menace.

The assaults allegedly occurred at a Cupania St home.

Jeffcoat was in court with his barrister David James while Adsett was excused from appearing.

Adsett's lawyer Neil Lawler appeared by telephone.

Acting Magistrate Dean Wilkinson noted indications of guilty pleas from both men's lawyers.

Their matters were set down for a sentencing hearing on March 21.
