BREAKING 3.45PM: A LARGE 2.5m crocodile thrilled onlookers this afternoon as it frolicked in the Fitzroy River close to the CBD.

One resident spent over three hours following the crocodile down the river from the CBD area, down past the train bridge.

The croc spent close to a hour on and near the bank just passed the train bridge, in front of the World War II Memorial Pool.

There has been an increase in crocodile sightings in the Fitzroy River, with one man even catching a crocodile in his crab pot earlier this week.
