Two pilots dead after ultralight joy ride
TWO Queensland pilots were killed when their ultralight planes crashed near Townsville.
The pilots had left Donnington Airpark near Townsville in separate ultralight planes about 11am on Tuesday, but did not return.
It is understood the two were experienced pilots and had left on a joyride. Their failure to return was reported to police.
Search and rescue teams were sent into the area and found the two planes early on Wednesday morning.
Queensland Police are helping the Australian Transport Safety Bureau with investigations into the incident.
