TWO Gatton police officers assaulted during arrest

A 25-year-old man has been charged with serious assault after allegedly biting two police officers last night at Lawes near Gatton.

The officers were attempting to arrest a man at an education facility when he became aggressive.

After being placed into the police car, the man attempted to get out and began kicking and head-butting the windows.

As the officers attempted to restrain the man he bit one officer on the right forearm causing minor injuries. The man then bit the other officer on the lower left leg, breaking the skin and drawing blood.

The man has been charged with two counts of serious assault, two counts of obstruct police and one count of public nuisance.

He is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
