TWO elderly men have been charged over separate investigations into the sexual assault of children at Catholic schools and churches across NSW.
In the state's north, a 74-year-old man stands accused of abusing children over almost 30 years while teaching at a Catholic school in Woodlawn, near Lismore.
Police allege 10 students were assaulted by the man between 1967 and 1993.
He was arrested at Lismore on Wednesday morning and charged with 36 related offences.
A Catholic Priest has also been arrested in the Hunter region over the repeated sexual assault of a boy in the 80s.
It will be alleged the 76-year-old indecently assaulted and attempted to have sex with the boy when he was aged between 10 and 18.
Both accused have been allowed bail and will front court later this month.
