TWO cars have crashed on the notorious Running Creek bridge overnight on Brooweena Woolooga Rd.

At about 8pm, Kilkivan police found a car upside down after it rolled off the bridge.

The driver had already left the scene, and police are seeking any information from the public on the crash.

Just eight hours later, two students travelling to the Gold Coast approached the bridge.

Police said the driver approached the corner too fast for the conditions and lost traction on the bridge.

Two wheels of the car came off the bridge before the car stopped, perched on the edge.

The two students were able to escape the car without injuries.

A truck managed to recover the vehicle, which police said sustained minor damage in the incident.

Strangely, both of the vehicles were BMW X5 models.

Police said it was incredibly lucky no one was injured, and the second crash could easily have turned into a double fatality if the car had rolled off the bridge.

The Broowena Woolooga Rd is a main road under Queensland Government jurisdiction.
