X FACTOR auditions have started in Australia for the next series of the popular TV singing competition, and twins Brianna and Madi Brett couldn't be more excited.

Queensland auditions will be held in Townsville on Thursday, and Brisbane on Saturday and Sunday.

Brianna, who started singing earlier this year, had hoped to audition.

"I did want to try out for this year's auditions," Brianna said. "But it came around too soon.

"Watching the show (X Factor) on TV, and other shows, really inspired me to sing," she said.

Brianna performed a solo at the FAME Talent School shows recently.

"I sang Poker Face," she said.

"In lessons we sing musical theatre stuff, which I enjoy. I really want to make a career out of singing."

Her sister Madi is also a fan of the X Factor TV show.

"I liked Jason (Owen) and Shiane Hawke," Madi said.

"I liked Jason because he had something different and they were both so young.

"Watching them perform what they love to do was great."

She said she couldn't wait until Brianna could audition.

"I would have gone and cheered her on," Madi said.

Their mother, Kim Brett, said the goal was to make it to next year's auditions.

"We made the decision that it's something she (Brianna) is going to strive for next year," Mrs Brett said.

"Her singing teacher would like her to have a go.

"Because the auditions are next weekend ... it was just too soon this year."
