Twenty-three drink drivers caught over the weekend in Mackay

MACKAY police are disappointed after 23 drink drivers were caught in the Mackay region over the weekend.

The highest reading was .174% in Bakers Creek.

Senior Constable, Steve Smith said it is an unfortunately high number of drink drivers and should be of concern for all responsible road users.

"It's a disappointment, it is one of the fatal five and it's something that police focus on everywhere," he said.

"You have to expect that you will be intercepted and breathalysed if you drink and drive."
