Tony Hazenkamp

TONY Hazenkamp used to drive triple road trains hauling cattle but these days he is behind the wheel of a 2009 Isuzu delivering ice cream.

Tony, 60, is a friendly truckie and Big Rigs saw him on May 26 as he drove in the Townsville suburb of Cranbrook.

"I have had the Home Ice Cream franchise for three months and deliver around Townsville and to Ingham and Ayr," he said.

During his long career Tony drove for FCL and Linfox to name a few and also had his own Mack which he sold.

"I got into Home Ice Cream with my daughter but now she is going to work in England so I will have to do six days a week," he said.

His favourite stop is Andy's Roadhouse just south of Ingham where host Andy Barra is a legend in the transport industry.

"The biggest thing going against drivers these days are government regulations," he said.
