Truckin' in the Tropics: Colby Wilson

COLBY Wilson is the key man for Townsville company Tropical Bricklaying and a proud PNG descendent.

It was very sticky weather in late December when Big Rigs saw Colby laying concrete along Townsville's Flinders Street East which is the nightclub strip.

"There is four of us in the gang and I have been to Hughenden and Richmond out west recently. Tomorrow we are going up to Abergowrie near Ingham for a job,” he said.

Colby said the Isuzu was ideal for the work which requires him to be in peak physical condition.

Although Colby devotes a good amount of his spare time to maintaining peak fitness, he does enjoy getting down to the pub every so often.

"I enjoy a small punt on the horses, trots and dogs,” he said.

The multi-skilled Colby is also part of an entertainment band which has played at various establishments.

"It is just called Colby,” he said.

Not surprising that every time a truck pull is organised locally, Colby usually gets a call because of his strength.
