UPDATE: A Toowoomba woman was shocked when a tree in her backyard suddenly uprooted in calm conditions.

Kim Armstrong, who lives in North Toowoomba, said she was surprised when an eucalyptus tree suddenly fell in her yard on about 5.40pm on Monday night.

The tree fell after heavy rain saturated ground across much of the city.

"I was stumped to see it just laying there in the back yard," Ms Armstrong said.

"Thankfully our real estate branch has been fantastic in helping us out and responded to us immediately."

Ms Armstrong said the tree seemed to have uprooted and fallen over due to all the recent rain and wind.

"It managed to not hit any of the structures around it but did slice off a few branches from a nearby tree.

"I had just walked inside and there was a roaring noise and when I turned around i was looking at the top of the tree."

EARLIER: Heavy rain has saturated the ground in Toowoomba, leading a tree to uproot in a backyard.

Kim Armstrong took to social media, warning others of the dangers storms pose after a tree fell in her yard.

"The ground has been saturated in Toowoomba," she said.

"The wind wasn't blowing, the rain had actually stopped, and the tree came tumbling down. Be safe out there!"

The Bureau of Meteorology's gauge recorded 21mm of rain in the last 24 hours and more is on the cards today.

Forecasters are predicting a high chance of showers today (80%).

There is also a chance of a thunderstorm during the morning and afternoon.

Rainy weather is predicted for the rest of this week.
