Top jet skiers to fly high at Slam
HUNDREDS of Australia's best freestyle jet skiers will have a flippin' good time next weekend when the Coast hosts Queensland's largest jet ski freestyle event.
The Sunshine Coast Jet Sports Club will hold the 2012 AJSP Surf Slam at Mudjimba on June 9-10.
Up to 400 competitors and spectators are expected on the Coast for the Queen's Birthday long weekend.
The two-day event includes the Krash Industries Australian Freestyle championship, the PWC Australian Motosurf Championship and the Queensland Rip 'n' Ride.
The Rip 'n' Ride is an event that travels Australia and is an opportunity for riders to showcase their skills in a protected environment.
SCJSC has also enlisted the services of K38 Australia, an organisation specialising in jet ski event safety, to be the marshal at the event.
Club president Matt O'Connor said last year's inaugural event was a huge success and they expected an even better result this time around.
"We identified a need for a freestyle event for Queensland," he said.
"We're looking to promote the freestyle sport, to bring everyone together to showcase their skills.
"We love riding and we do it every week anyway, so selfishly we put on an event here so we don't have to travel.
"It is a great opportunity to meet riders from all over Australia."
