Toowoomba DJ excited about international exposure

AN up and coming Toowoomba DJ hopes industry heavyweights will take notice when he performs his live beats in front some world-famous peers in Sydney.

Ben Briskey, who performs under the title Blunt B, was one of six DJs and producers who were invited to showcase their talent at the Electronic Music Conference on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old has been producing his own electronic music since he was 15, describing the style of his latest four-track EP as glitch hop and complex funk.

Performing at a conference which will be attended by international DJs Tiesto and Diplo as well as record company representatives and music festival organisers is great exposure for the former Toowoomba Grammar School student.

"I'm pretty stoked," Mr Briskey said.

He has been intensely practicing a live show, which involves the use of drum machines, samplers and keyboards, for his 15 minute set.

"Every lunch hour I go home and do what I can.

"Then I run through it when I get home after work."

Mr Briskey's EP is available on iTunes by searching Blunt B.
