Toogoolawah Skydiving duo to take on world
LOCAL skydivers Wade Edwards and Amandine Genin will represent Somerset for the second time at the FAI World Parachuting Championships in the USA.
"We are so excited to be representing Australia again, we came tenth place last time in 2012,” Genin said.
The FAI World Parachuting Championships will be held at Skydive Chicago from September 10-21.
Genin said they were aiming to beat their personal best during competition.
"We will be happy to be in the tens again but of course we will be trying to get a higher score,” Genin said.
Genin explained the jump sequence she would perform at the championships.
"I will perform seven jumps, five of them are pre-routine and two are compulsory moves which consist of four moves set by the judge,” Genin said.
"It's basically like aerial gymnastics in the air. So lots of tumbling, flipping, splits and gym positions and dance moves.”
The Toogoolawah based duo have been skydiving partners for years.
"Wade is the camera man during competition, and I am the performer,” Genin said.
Genin, who is French, has been skydiving for 10 years and five and a half years of those for Australia.
The pair have been training hard since their success at Nationals in March.
"We are going to France to train before the event and to visit my family too,” Genin said.
