Three times a charm for Gatton

GATTON Football Club capped off an excellent year with its three Grand Final teams, U12B, U15 Girls and Premier Womens, winning their respective title encounters.

U12B Country East met Country West when Logan Farms U12B Redbacks played Pittsworth Vikings in the Grand Final on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

Gatton had the game well in hand at half time with a one-nil lead, and after almost placing the final nail on numerous occasions, it was Pittsworth who rallied with a blistering last quarter and a nicely placed free-kick to equalise.

No one was ready to go home, even after 10 minutes of extra time so it was Valiums all round and a penalty shoot-out.

An ice cold performance from stand-in goalie Michael Diep and superior shooters saw Gatton take out the 2009 Grand Final.

U15 Girls faced off once again with Rockville for finals glory.

The girls took their time in the first half and not many opportunities became available for either team.

In the second half Rockville handballed in the goal box and Joanna Cook, cool as a cucumber kicked a well-placed penalty goal.

The girls found a new zest after that and although they had many opportunities just could not get the ball past Rockville's goalkeeper.

The girls gave their all in the second half and kept the score to 1-0.

Premier Ladies won the grand final in a nail biter against Rockville Rovers. Gatton scored first though Carla Ford with great determination with following through.

Gatton switched off late in the first half and Rockville went to a 2-1 lead with two easy goals.

The Gatton Ladies pumped up for the second half and Tahlia Sudhaus scored a dead set cracker from outside the 18 yard box.

Tahlia played her best game of the season and showed the Ladies the way for the win.

Sarah Robinson finished with a great goal following through off a cross with a quality finish.

The Gatton premier Ladies finished strong and were well deserved winners taking a clean sweep of all trophies.

Thanks to all supporters. A great win.
