Three people injured in Bruce Hwy crash at Koumala


Three people have been taken to Mackay Base Hospital following the single-vehicle crash on the Bruce Hwy at Koumala.

The patients are believed to be a 40-year-old woman, 11-year-old boy and a teenager.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said two of the patients would be airlifted by the RACQ-CQ Rescue helicopter while the third was taken by ambulance.

They were all in a stable condition, he said.


THREE people including a 40-year-old woman, 11-year-old boy and a teenager have been injured in a single-vehicle crash on the Bruce Hwy at Koumala.

The crash has occurred within the last half an hour and the RACQ-CQ Rescue helicopter has been tasked to attend the crash site. They are expected to arrive shortly.

Details are that there may be up to four people injured. However, according to brief reports from Queensland Ambulance Service, paramedics are working on three people including the woman, boy and teenager, whose gender is unknown at this stage.

A police spokesman has confirmed that the Bruce Hwy is still open and that the crash is off the road.
