Andre Rieu's angel still calls Australia home
MIRUSIA Louwerse is referred to by people all over the world as the "Angel of Australia".
The Brisbane songstress has spent five-years touring with Andre Rieu.
But she has come back home to go solo for a while, before returning to her spot beside the world-renowned Dutch violinist, conductor, and composer.
Mirusia will launch her solo tour and album and perform her second show of the tour at the The Events Centre, Caloundra on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old said the Sunshine Coast held a special place in her heart and the community deserved the opportunity to see a show which would normally only ever come to the big capital cities.
The talented musician said she will sing Ave Maria, Botany Bay, I Still Call Australia Home and her own composition, Forever Shine.
And to show the incredible range of her talent, Mirusia will also give her own interpretation of a Japanese pop song.
Mirusia has had more than eight million hits for her rendition of Schubert's Ave Maria on Youtube.
She said her choice to come home, was not only about her need to perform on home soil, but to enjoy the Australian spirit and great weather.
"I missed Australia so much," she said.
"The weather in the Netherlands is very depressing at times and nothing like the weather of Australia."
The singer-songwriter will return to the Netherlands next year to start touring with Andre again.
Rieu gave Mirusia his blessings to pursue her dream of touring solo in her home country.
"I feel very proud to have been the person who gave Mirusia the possibility to start her career," he said.
"After working for five years with this incredibly talented soprano I can only wish her all the luck she deserves in her solo career."
In 2006, Mirusia was awarded the prestigious Dame Joan Sutherland Opera Award. She was the youngest winner in the history of the award.
Mirusia says she is living the life she has always dreamed of.
She sings in cities all over the world, has two number one albums in Australia and a number one platinum DVD and is always surrounded by talented musicians.
"I sometimes have to pinch myself," she giggled.
"Life could not be better."
Don't miss Mirusia at The Events Centre, Caloundra at 8pm on Tuesday November 20.
