Thirty years of Laidley living for Cr McLean
ENTERING into her second term as a Lockyer Valley Councillor, Kathy McLean fell in love with the district when she moved here 30 years ago.
Born in Brisbane, and then living on the Gold coast with her family, Cr McLean made the move to Laidley in 1986.
“I was 28-years-old and moved to help with our family business, which was called Cook’s Printing at the time, " she said.
“I eventually took it over, and it became McLean’s Printing."
Now, Cr McLean has four generations of family living in Laidley.
"I’ve got my mum and my kids and the grand kids, it’s lovely" she said.
Cr McLean was first elected as a Lockyer Valley Councillor in 2012.
"I was becoming more community and business involved, with the local groups and Regional Development Australia," she said.
"I thought this is fantastic, I can achieve a lot with this.
"The aftermath of 2011 floods really motivated me too, I wanted to see the community helped and things moving forward."
Cr McLean said the current council was fantastic.
"As a councillor youcan’t lay claims to things, it’s a team effort and I think we will do well."
