WEDNESDAY: IT'S about to get hot, hot, hot on the Sunshine Coast with temperatures predicted to jump up to six degrees above June averages tomorrow.
And just as blue, rainless skies have followed last weekend's deluge there is a real chance of very heavy rain by the end of the weekend.
Dry, breezy westerlies will begin to drip right away through today becoming light and variable from the north east to north west.
Those winds will bring much warmer weather for Thursday pushing temperatures to the mid to high 20s by the end of the week.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesman said those temperatures were still below June records which reach the low 30s.
'It shouldn't hit those,'' he said. "But it will still be five to six degrees above average."
The region will return to more typical weather over the weekend with the possibility of heavy showers late Sunday or Monday.
"Various computer models have another low slash trough forming Sunday or Monday," the forecaster said.
"If one develops over the Darling Downs we will see tons of rain. If its over the ocean we will see none."
The BOM will look at the probabilities as it gets closer to the weekend to see if the various computer models come into alignment.
Whatever happens the BOM assures that at this stage we will not see an event in the magnitude of the east coast low which last weekend dumped up to 160mm of rain on various parts of the Sunshine Coast and whipped up big seas before causing flooding and coastal zone destruction across the NSW east coast through to Sydney and the Tasmania.
Thursday: Max 27C, min 10C, less than 1mm rain.

Sunday: Max 22C, min 12C, 10-20mm rain.
Monday: Max 21C, min 13C, 1-5mm rain.
