Teens stole from beach-goers, used stolen credit cards

THREE teens have been charged over the weekend after they allegedly stole bags and phones from unsuspecting beach-goers.

Sunshine Coast District Criminal Investigation Branch Officer in Charge, Daren Edwards said the trio, two 17-year-old boys and one 16-year-old girl, stole the items from beaches between Noosa and Coolum.

"Basically they did a number of things between May and the weekend targeting people leaving things under towels," Det Snr Sgt Edwards said.

They then went on to allegedly use credit cards to commit a number of fraud offences.

In one instance, police believe the girl asked a woman for directions to distract her while her phone was stolen off a nearby table.

The girl appeared in court yesterday, while the two boys are due to appear in Noosa Magistrates Court on July 25.
