UPDATE, 6.47pm: THE 15-year-old boy hit by the car at Glenella early Sunday morning was in a stable condition this afternoon at Townsville Hospital, according to a statement by the hospital.
He was transferred from Mackay Base Hospital on Sunday afternoon by the Royal Flying Doctor Service, said a Mackay Base Hospital spokeswoman.
INITIAL: A 15-year-old boy from Blacks Beach was hit by a car at Glenella early this morning and Queensland Ambulance Service treated the boy for "minor head injuries", according to Queensland Police.
The driver of the car, a 19-year-old from North Mackay, was heading along Glenella Rd about 12.45am when the boy apparently ran onto the road, said a spokeswoman.
She said nothing indicated the driver was doing anything out of the ordinary to cause him to collide with the boy.
The driver was breath tested, as per routine, but was not found to be under the influence of alcohol.
Police investigations continue, but there was no indication charges would be laid at this stage.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the boy suffered lacerations and abrasions and was taken to Mackay Base Hospital.
The hospital has been contacted for more information.
