Shark sighting forces the evacuation of Mooloolaba Beach

SWIMMERS evacuated the water at Mooloolaba Beach at about 6.30am today, after a large shark was spotted close to shore.

About 50 beachgoers fled the water, after it was believed a large shark had swam underneath two stand-up paddle boarders.

The water was cleared for about half an hour as life savers scoured the water for the shark, before the beach was reopened.
