NETBALL: Bring on the Queensland Firebirds.

That was the message from the NSW Swifts after they set up another showdown with their arch rivals in next Monday’s ANZ Championship Australian conference final.

The Swifts will face their conquerors from last season’s title decider after downing the Melbourne Vixens in their elimination final 67-53 in Sydney yesterday.

Susan Pettitt (pictured, 23 goals from 24 attempts) and Caitlin Thwaites (40 goals from 44 attempts) proved far too good for the Vixens’ defence.

Having won their past five games against the Vixens, a confident Swifts line-up stormed to a 37-25 lead at half-time.

The hosts extended their lead to a commanding 18 points at the last change, 53-35, before their sights were set firmly on the Firebirds, who enjoyed the weekend off after finishing on top of the ladder.
