Swickers announces major expansion for Kingaroy facility

SWICKERS plan to increase capacity by 50% with the announcement of a multi-million dollar upgrade to its Kingaroy facility.

A new slaughter floor will be added to the pork processing facility which will increase capacity to 30,000 head per week.

The floor will be separated from the current floors to help mitigate risk in the event of any major breakdowns.

CEO of Wickers Ross Ingram said the upgrades were to meet the increased demand for high quality Australian pork.

"The new facility has been designed to handle increased volume with optimum efficiency," he said.

"As demand for Australia pork continues to grow we feel this investment will see us ready to meet the expected increased volume demands."

The expansion will include increased chiller capacity and an upgraded distribution area.
