Package found at DFAT not suspicious

UPDATE: ACT Police have confirmed the package found in the canteen at the Department of Foreign Affairs is not suspicious.

 

 

EARLIER: AUSTRALIAN Capital Territory Police are investigating a suspicious package at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Barton.   

At about 1.45 pm, ACT Policing received the report of the suspicious package at DFAT on John McEwen Cresent.  

ACT Policing provided a coordinated response and cordoned the area as a standard safety precaution.  

Evacuations are underway at DFAT and road closures implemented.  

Members of the AFP Bomb Response Team are in attendance.
