Stockyard Creek Hall hosts special flood party
MORE than 200 residents of the Flagstone, Stockyard and Rockmount areas gathered at the Stockyard Creek Hall last month for an enjoyable After the Flood Bash.
It was the first opportunity for many locals to catch up with each other and relax after the momentous events of the past few weeks.
While the adults swapped stories of the flood and its aftermath, the many children present thoroughly enjoyed themselves in the playground.
A competition for the best photos from the flood drew a large number of entries in each of the various sections, with some spectacular and some very funny images among them.
There was great interest in the photos, as well as in the film clips and videos of the flood that were running throughout the evening.
Those attending enjoyed a free barbecue, accompanied by fresh gourmet salads.
These were prepared by the Flagstone Creek School P&C Association from generously donated local produce.
Hall Committee President, Carol Stephens, said that it was great to see so many local people involved in the event.
“It is an opportunity for people to take a break from all the hard work of recent months,” she said.
