Staff lauds brand new facilities

GATTON State School students are set to enjoy the best education facilities ever seen at the school with the state of the art sports hall and resource centre officially opened last week.

The opening of the Building the Education Revolution facilities took place in the new multi-purpose hall, making full use of the stage and multimedia systems.

Students, teachers and community members were treated to a slide show on the big screen, showing the long building process of the constructed buildings.

Teacher Librarian, Steve Warren, said he had seen many changes to the school in his time, but nothing like the new buildings.

“I have been a teacher here for 22 years and I have seen new buildings, the resurfacing of the tennis courts, but something like these two buildings is like nothing we could have ever hoped for,” he said.

“These facilities will enhance the learning of students and that for me is what teaching is all about.”

Physical Education Teacher, Michael Vaughan, said the school was lucky to have the new facilities.

“In my years teaching here, I can honestly say I never thought we would get anything like this,” he said.

“Our old covered play area would fit into this building three times.

“The media centre will be amazing and nothing like what we have had before and I'm sure all the students appreciate how lucky they are to have something like this at their school.”
