Sprints around the corner

THE month is March and you can almost smell the burnt rubber.

This can only mean one thing – the K & R Plumbing Supplies Street Sprints is just around the corner.

It is the 11th year of the street sprints and things will certainly be different this year with racers having to complete the course in an anti-clockwise direction.

More than 150 entrants are expected to turn up on March 20 and 21 for the event which looks set to be the best so far.

To get the ball rolling for the 2010 event, a presentation was made to the Endeavour Foundation, presenting the organisation with the profits from last year’s event.

Warren Southee, Australian All Rally Group (AARG) President, said thanks to the sponsorship from K & R Plumbing Supplies, the event last year was the most profitable event to date.

Mr Southee said $16,000 was raised from the street sprints last year and this year they are hoping to eclipse the mark.

He said the changing the direction for races gave AARG a chance to double the runs this year, making it more exciting for racers.

He has encouraged everyone to come and have a look at what the races can do this year at the K & R Plumbing Supplies Street Sprints on March 20- 21.
