Spring Bluff victors in Carnival Garden comp
THE gardens at Spring Bluff are bursting with colour and certainly made an impression on judge Ross McKinnon at the Carnival Garden Competition.
According to Spring Bluff Trust chairperson, Cr Janice Holstein, Mr McKinnon was pleased to award Spring Bluff Railway Station first place for ‘Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Public Places' in the Country Section as well as ‘Best Display of Flowering Annuals and Bulbs' at a function at the City Golf Club on Wednesday.
“We are really excited to win in the competition as it means our hard work has paid off, and it will bring even more visitors to enjoy our wonderful grounds,” Cr Holstein said.
Thousands of visitors take in the picturesque surrounds at Spring Bluff during Carnival week each year either by car, bus or the short train trip down the range.
“Our caretaker Craig has planted a lot of the old favourites this year including Foxgloves, Ranunculus, Poppies, Stock and Primulas,” Cr Holstein said.
The train ride from Toowoomba to Spring Bluff Railway Station is a highlight for many children and adults alike as the six tunnels between Toowoomba and Spring Bluff make the trip a real adventure.
Honorary train conductor Mr Ralph Hickey will be there each day to greet train travellers as they step from the train onto the station platform at Spring Bluff station.
