Spectacular fight against cancer

MURPHY'S Creek community fundraiser, Murray Imms, is calling on locals to support the Lockyer Valley Sound and Noise Spectacular to raise funds to fight cancer.

The event, to be held from 9am to midnight on Saturday, August 22, is expected to attract 5000 motoring enthusiasts, locals, tourists and onlookers.

Murray stated that he would be grateful for any level of sponsorship to help ensure the event is a success.

“We picked up a lot of entertainment this year - Jade Hurley, the king of country rock, will be playing,” Murray said.

“Cancer doesn't discriminate and we have to beat it - this year I've just gone bigger with the event, a lot more entertainment, and a full family day.”

The annual event will showcase motorbikes, cars, trucks and trade displays, live music, children's rides, and a sideshow alley.

Regional Fundraising Co-ordinator for Cancer Council Queensland, Gael Evans, said the spectacular is a wonderful community event that anyone can enjoy.

“This event makes a difference to the lives of local cancer patients and their families.

“Last year the Sound and Noise Spectacular raised more than $10,000 for Cancer Council Queensland.

“We're hoping the event is just as successful this year.”

Attendees will have the opportunity to enter raffles and auctions and win fantastic prizes.

Food and refreshments will be available for purchase at the event.

The event is fully licensed. The Lockyer Valley Sound and Noise Spectacular will be held at the Murphy's Creek Grounds, Dodts Road, Murphy's Creek.

Entry is $5 per person or $10 per family.
