Police search for Lockyer Valley slingshot thrower

GLASS marbles fired from a slingshot are causing damage across the Lockyer Valley.

In recent days nine homes and business in the Gatton area have been targeted, as well as eight in the Laidley area, including Forest Hill and Glenore Grove.

Gatton officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Tom Missingham said it was concerning that the slingshot had sufficient force to smash windows.

"We believe it is from a passing vehicle," he said.

He warned that the amount of force could cause serious injury or death if the marbles were to hit a person.

Laidley officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Jim McDonald warns the offenders to stop before they injure or kill someone.

"It is just completely unacceptable," he said.

One of the Gatton businesses targeted was the Gatton View Hotel early on Sunday morning.

"It is not a nice thing to have in the entrance to the building," manager Karen Robins said.

"They have got to learn that they can ruin their life, other people's lives, and hurt their friends and family."

If you have any information on the attacks, please contact Gatton or Laidley Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800333000.
