UPDATE 8PM:

Somerset Regional Council has advised any residents affected by the bushfires, looking for an Evacuation Centre. Please register at the Fernvale Futures Complex, Fernvale for Lowood/Fernvale affected residents.

For those looking for an Evacuation Centre due to the Esk-Hampton Rd /Redbank Creek Bushfire please register at the Somerset Civic Centre, Esk.

People with animals can take them to the Toogoolawah Showgrounds, you will need to take your own bedding and remain with the animals. Please also take along water troughs and feed bins if required.

Anyone wanting to speak to a member of the Incident Management Team operating out of Esk can phone 5424 4000.

SPLIT YARD CREEK

Bushfire warning level: WATCH AND ACT Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in Patrick Estate and Wivenhoe Pocket, travelling towards Split Yard Creek and conditions could get worse.

Residents who have evacuated should not return until advised it is safe to do so.

There is a separate warning in place for residents in Patrick Estate and Wivenhoe Pocket. Residents in these areas should follow directions given in that warning. (see below)

You need to be ready to follow your bushfire survival plan.

If you do not have a plan, or intend to leave, you should be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.

Currently as at 8pm Friday 6 December, a slow-moving fire is burning towards Split Yard Creek near Wivenhoe Somerset Road.

Crews will be working along the road and motorists are advised to drive with caution to conditions.

Multiple fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door.

People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality.

Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe your property is under threat.  

PATRICK ESTATE

A LARGE bushfire is burning in Patrick Estate and police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in the vicinity of Lowood.

The emergency declaration is bound by Brisbane Valley Highway to the north, along the Brisbane River to Lowood, west along Forest Hill-Fernvale Road to Coominya Connection Road.  

Residents within the exclusion zone are urged to follow the advice of emergency services on the ground.  

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
•    Listen to your local radio station or visit the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website for regular updates.
•    If you have a bushfire survival plan, refer to it now and be ready to follow it.
•    If you do not have a bushfire survival plan, or if your plan is to leave, identify where you will go if the situation changes.
•    Close windows and doors to minimise smoke exposure.
•    If you suffer from a respiratory condition, keep your medication close by.
•    Drive with caution in low visibility conditions.
•    Contact your neighbours to see if they need help preparing for the bushfire.
•    Consider finding your essential items (e.g., identification documents, prescription medication, food and water, and protective clothing such as a long-sleeved cotton shirt and trousers, and boots) in case you need to leave.
•    Consider what you will do to protect your pets and livestock.
•    Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
•    Advise family and friends of your intended actions if the situation changes.
