AFTER the recent harrowing events in Brisbane and the Lockyer Valley, the local council is urging city slickers and locals to attend the Lockyer Valley Regional Council Race Day this weekend and kick up their heels.
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Steve Jones encouraged visitors and locals alike to get out and enjoy the spectacle of a country race meeting with a full program of races and events to keep not only punters and patrons entertained but visitors to the region as well.
“It’s certainly a case of the more the merrier, so everyone who shows up can be guaranteed a day of fun,” he said.
The meeting, run in conjunction with the Lockyer Valley Race Club, will see a full five race program getting under way at noon with gates opening at 11am with entertainment to suit all ages including the ever popular Fashions on the Field taking place on the day.
With Brisbane and other major cities in the area only a short road trip away, visitors to the region can also take full advantage of Lockyer Valley hospitality with a range of activities from fine dining, art galleries, sky diving, hot air ballooning and traditional country markets.
The Lockyer Valley Regional Council Race Day is in Gatton on Saturday, August 27 with gates opening at 11am and a general admission fee of $10 and pensioners $5.
