A REYNOLDS St resident in Bowen has had their home broken into and smeared with human poo.

Around 10am on Thursday Bowen police receive a report from the home owner that a thief had come into their carport and yard, stolen multiple items and then wiped human waste on the walls, floors and roof of an outdoor lavatory.

The items stolen from the carport were a 8.5kg barbecue gas cylinder, six garden ornaments, six pot plants and ten outdoor chairs.

Police are now searching for the person at fault and are urging anyone with information to come forward.

They also remind residents that valuable items can be engraved or have an identifiable number draw on with ultra violet pens, assisting police enormously when stolen property is located.
