WESTERN Suburbs junior Kirby Short will captain Brisbane Heat for the rest of the Women's Big Bash League.
Short was named captain for the Heat's two games with Hobart Hurricanes and will lead a new-look side into the highly-anticipated clashes.
West Indian Deandra Dottin has been replaced by Yorkshire and England star Lauren Winfield for the rest of the competition.
Dottin is still recovering from surgery after fracturing her cheekbone in a fielding accident, but will be able to return ot the playing squad once recovered.
Warwick-born Delissa Kimmince,who has played 11 One Day Internationals and eight Twenty20 Internationals for Australia, stepped down from the role of captain.
Beth Mooney was named vice captain.
Short carries a strong sporting pedigree, having represented Queensland in both the under-17s and U19s indoor cricket sides. She is a senior member of Queensland Fire's side.
Short, who works as a teacher, also represented Queensland at youth level in volleyball and softball.
